Meet La' Raja

La’ Raja is an NC blues artist whose pen moves like gardenia-scented smoke… sweet, piercing, and impossible to ignore. Affectionately known to family as Lil’ Rog, she mirrors her father's tenacity, essence, and drive.

Raised as a PK in ministry, but also the subject of family juke joint dreams, her love for vintage blues and jazz comes from long summer service nights in Bertie County and humming barber shop harmonies with her grandmother in Sampson County.

A writer, lyricist, and creator, La’ Raja writes with the kind of raw honesty and unique expression without apology; understanding passion, unafraid of truth, and unwilling to dim her fire to make skeptics comfortable.

Her velvety voice moves effortlessly from spicy soprano high notes to comforting tenor tones, carrying influences from low-country blues, heart felt worship, classical sonatas to jazz standards and beyond.
